Wednesday, September 30, 2009 launches first ever Spanish movie TV show!

NEW YORK, September 29, 2009 - On Sept 30th, ShowBizCafe Media will extend its premium movie content over to television in a partnership with V-me, the 4th largest Spanish language television network in the US. En Pantalla, the first-ever weekly film series on Spanish broadcast TV, will devote itself to reporting the latest movie news in Hollywood and Latin America, providing film reviews on US and international films and interviewing filmmakers and actors who are the newsmakers of the moment, amongst other elements.

En Pantalla, airing every Wednesday at 9P (EST) is hosted by Jack Rico, founder and editor-in-chief of, the first Spanish language website devoted to movies for U.S. Hispanics. Prior to launching his multimedia company, Rico was part of Univision’s NY morning news team. “En Pantalla arrives at a great time when Hispanic movie spending and interest for film content is at an all time high. One of the most staggering statistics is Hispanic’s over-indexing in movie going attendance and DVD consumption the last several years,” says Rico. “It also helps that Latin American talent is being recognized internationally. This makes it all the more timely and significant to have a dedicated program hosted by on television.”

From Mexico With Love - "Seen it Comments"

I wanted to share some of the comments about the new film, FROM MEXICO WITH LOVE starring Kuno Becker. Film hits theaters Friday, October 9th.

“I loved the theme of the film. The beginning gave the impression of an 80’s-era film, which proves that the conditions immigrants live under hasn’t changed at all. The ending was very surprising and new, given the fact that the immigrants decide to return home. Angelica Aragon and Steven Bauer gave excellent performances.” – Edwin Tamara/Associated Press

“The concept of the film was amazing. It showed a different side of people who want to immigrate to this country. Kuno Becker was spectacular! His performance was that of a rising start showing lots of range so Hollywood should be prepared!” – Marina Blumenthal/Futbolmania

“Finally a drama that touches on immigration with a happy ending! Kuno Becker’s performance was outstanding and the film will certainly touch everyone’s heart.” – Raquel Laguna/News2Air

“The love and passion for who we are can make us fight any obstacle!” – Luis Aldana/Hollywood Café

"I liked it! I needed to see one more border movie; now I'm good for the rest of my life." – Chuey Martinez/MTV Tr3s

"I really liked this film! It accurately portrays the struggle of a lot of immigrants that come here in search of a better life." – Mario Parea/Los Angeles en Vivo

"It’s the classic immigration story but appropriate to these times." – Jordi Cisa/Bar y Banda

"A compelling story full of passion and struggle in the game of life, where the love for a parent and the desire for a better life pushes us to survive and win without letting any obstacles get in our way." – Jaime Aymerich/Hablemos de Cine

“It’s the new Mexican Rocky!” It was an interesting story that shows an immigrant overcoming tremendous adversity.” – Jose Romero/Notimex

“’From Mexico with Love’ is a movie viewers can enjoy as a family. Director, Jimmy Nickerson, did a great job at creating a film that incorporates drama, action and comedy all in one. This is by far the best film of the year that depicts the lives of scores of immigrants in this country… A must see film!” – Griselda Marina/Hollywood TV Stars (Telemundo)

“Kuno Becker’s performance was excellent!” – Jesus Olvera/Al

“Very entertaining!” – Antonio Martin/EFE News Services

“It was a great film and much better than I had expected! Kuno Becker was amazing as was the story.” – Lucia Castano/Hollywood TV Stars

Synopsis: Fight coordinator-turned-film director Jimmy Nickerson (Raging Bull, Rocky) helms this tale of a self-destructive amateur boxer seeking to follow in his father's footsteps by making a name for himself in the ring. HECTOR VILLA (Kuno Becker), physically tough, but emotionally self-destructive, is one of the millions of illegal migrant workers vying for a new life in the U.S., and will do everything he can to rise above picking fruit in the dirt. Hector dreams of being a boxer, like his father before him, but finds he has to fight just to survive the grim reality of living on a Texas Ranch. During the day Hector works long hours under the scorching sun. But at night, he trades his work gloves for boxing gloves, fighting in the surrounding bars and converted barns, where a five dollar entrance fee and a few rounds in a makeshift ring can score the winner more than a days pay in the sweltering fields. But when his mother ROSA (Angélica Aragón) becomes ill, Hector's forced to take as many fights as he can to pay for her expensive heart medicine. He takes on all comers and starts to win big, becoming a local hero to his migrant co-workers, but only one man says who can and can't fight in this town. BIG AL STEVENS (Stephen Lang) owns the Ranch, the land, and everything on it, including the local boxing arena where his son ROBERT (Alex Nesick) reigns as the undefeated champ, and Big Al plans to keep it that way. He's not going to let one of his pickers take the shine off his son's rising star. Hector is severely beaten by Big Al's men and dumped in the Mexican desert. He wakes up homeless and penniless, and is forced to live on the desperate streets of Mexico, fighting in any venue he can for food and lodging. And when he hears of his mother's death, only the fierce hunger of facing Robert in the ring keeps him alive. Things take a turn for Hector when his finds BILLY JENKS (Bruce McGill), the grizzled, down and out ex-boxer that trained Robert. Billy dumped Robert after learning that he was on the juice, but refuses to help Hector in his impossible quest to beat Robert. A fight he knows Hector can't win. Billy thinks Hector's good, but not good enough, and besides, Big Al would never agree to such a fight. But Billy is surprised to learn that Big Al has changed his mind, through the "persuasive" help of Hector's migrant picker friends. Billy begins to train Hector, teaching him that it will take more than anger to go up against Big Al and challenge Robert's dominance in the ring. Fight Night becomes a battlefield of heart wrenching emotions. A bloody clash of love, honor and loyalty, powerfully envisioned by fight coordinator turned director, Jimmy Nickerson (Rocky, Rocky II, Raging Bull, Fight Club.

Saturday Night Live' starts season with F-bomb

NEW YORK – "Saturday Night Live" has started the season with a bang, or, more precisely, an F-bomb.

Newcomer Jenny Slate let the dreaded word slip during a parody of a talk show by biker women. Called "Biker Chick Chat," the sketch was laden with tough talk from its participants, played by Slate, Kristen Wiig and guest host Megan Fox.

But the most objectionable word was substituted, with rapid-fire comic frequency, with an inoffensive stand-in for that vulgarity.

Then, midway through the sketch, Slate slipped and said the word she meant to avoid.

"You know what? You stood up for yourself," she declared, "and I (expletive) love you for that."

She puffed her cheeks, perhaps realizing her error, but the sketch continued with no interruption or further flubs.

Slate is an actress and comedian who this summer appeared on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," and is perhaps best-known as half of the comedy duo Gabe and Jenny — until her memorable "SNL" debut this weekend.

NBC declined to comment on the incident, other than to say the word had been restored to the intended "freakin'" for the show's replays in western time zones.

The sketch aired live at about 12:40 a.m. Eastern, well after prime time, when use of expletives can be punished by the FCC.

It wasn't the first time this particular word had been heard on "SNL." Cast member Charles Rocket made the slip in 1981.

But less than two weeks ago, a veteran New York City news anchor created a sensation by accidentally dropping an F-bomb during a newscast while bantering with the weatherman. The clip was soon an Internet favorite. Ernie Anastos of Fox affiliate WNYW apologized on the air the next night.

My buddy Miss Bobbi Billard's in a new movie!

What happens in Vegas doesn’t necessarily happen on the Strip.
Writer-producer Joshua Cohen hopes to show exactly that in his independent feature “Red Herring.”

Principal photography is scheduled to begin today on the neo-noir murder mystery, which follows detective Jack Adamson (played by Robert Scott Howard) as he searches for an enigmatic assassin known as the “Blue Screen of Death.”

Also starring for California-based director Ousa Khun (who beat out 65 applicants for the job): “Sopranos” veteran Vincent Pastore (pictured), former Playmate of the Year Corinna Harney-Jones and Internet star Bobbi Billard.

Although a dawn shot at Valley of Fire State Park is expected to kick off the “Red Herring” shoot, this week’s locations include Mayor Oscar Goodman’s City Hall office (Goodman has a cameo), the Henderson Executive Airport and a local mixed martial arts gym, Cohen notes.

Driving shots and not one or two but three fights also turn up on this week’s schedule.

Throughout, “Red Herring” will showcase “what happens in Las Vegas outside of the Strip,” he explains. “We’re trying to create a real life for Vegas.”

After all, Cohen adds, “Vegas has a lot of things to offer. It’s a fun place — but also a slightly dangerous place. There is a little bit of danger and excitement.”

Stay tuned to Shooting Stars for production updates; for more details, check out the movie’s Web site at

Well, once the sisters learn that something just isn’t right with the nurse – they do a little investigating…and boy do they find some dirt…murderous dirt!!
They try to warn dad – but it’s too late – Dad wants to marry the nurse. So, the girls decide to take matters into their own hands….and…well…some serious crazy, twisted stuff happens…which involves knives, drugs, blood, ghosts, and fire. (LOL)

Sorority Row - Mike's Movie Review's all about T&A in this one...and there's nothing wrong with that. (LOL)
Sorority Row is a pretty dope slasher flick...while watching it...I felt like I was seeing a little bit of the old skool. From Mexico With Love - New Movie Info!

In hits theaters October 9th!!

In From Mexico with Love, Hector Villa (Kuno Becker), a scrappy migrant farm worker and part-time prizefighter, joins forces with an old-school trainer to take on a rich rancher’s boxer son in the ring. An adrenaline-pumping action drama that also stirs the heart, the film stars rising talent Kuno Becker (Goal!) as well as Steven Bauer (Traffic and Scarface), Bruce McGill (Collateral) and Danay Garcia (“Prison Break”), and features thrilling fight scenes from stunt coordinator-turned-director Jimmy Nickerson (Rocky, Raging Bull, Fight Club).

Farm laborer Hector toils in the fields of a Texas ranch by day and moonlights as a boxer by night in whatever impromptu bouts he can line up. The winnings aren’t much, but they help support his ailing mother (Angélica Aragón), who works beside him in the fields. Meanwhile, the ranch’s tyrannical owner has fighting ambitions of his own: his son Robert (Alex Nesic), an all-American playboy, is a rising star on the local boxing scene.

Hector wants to face Robert in the ring—not least because Robert has taken an interest in the beautiful Maria (Garcia), a young worker recently smuggled across the border by the gruff but kindhearted Tito (Bauer). But the ranch owner doesn’t want his son fighting a Mexican “picker.” Hector’s shot at a better life appears doomed when he gets fired after brawling with ranch heavies who have slashed his mother’s pay. Beaten up, broke and jobless, he gets dumped back over the Mexican border for his troubles.

While there, Hector tracks down a veteran boxing trainer (McGill) who takes him under his wing and helps him prepare for the ultimate David-and-Goliath faceoff—a fight against Robert. After some tough negotiating by Tito, the ranch owner agrees to the match. The bout becomes a dramatic showdown between the racist ranchers and the masses of downtrodden farm workers, who see a victory in the ring as a chance to reclaim some of the dignity they’ve lost in the fields. Their hopes rest in the calloused hands of a young hero with something to prove.

Harrison Ford Up For 'Indiana Jones 5'... 'If The Script Is Good'

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Harrison Ford might have four "Indiana Jones" movies under his belt and is almost approaching age 70, but the actor says he would be ready to crack the iconic archaeologist's whip again and sport the trademark fedora in another sequel.

"The story for the new 'Indiana Jones' is in the process of taking form," Harrison told France's Le Figaro, as reported by People.

The 67-year-old actor reportedly told the mag that another movie all depends on the script.

"Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work," he said. "If the script is good, I'll be very happy to put the costume on again."

Harrison was last seen on the big screen in 2008's "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which earned over $786 million worldwide.
